Elon Musk confirmed on October 4 on the X platform that SpaceXAI will be renamed SpaceXSI, explaining that SI stands for Super Intelligence. He stated, "No more AI, SI is better," and referred to SpaceX as a super intelligence company.

This renaming follows an executive order from the Trump administration on September 29, requiring federal agencies to replace "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" with "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in official documents, websites, and reports; Trump previously stated that the term "artificial" makes the technology sound "fake."

SpaceX acquired xAI in February 2026 through an all-stock transaction (valued at approximately $12.5 trillion combined), officially renaming xAI to SpaceXAI in July and releasing a merged logo. This marks the second name adjustment for the AI business this year, with Musk not providing a specific timeline.

Before the name change, SpaceXAI included the Grok chatbot, the X platform, and AI infrastructure plans related to Starlink and rockets. Musk has repeatedly emphasized that space data centers are the long-term direction to meet AI computing power needs, as ground electricity cannot support scale expansion.

When confirming the name change, Musk responded to discussions about recursive self-improvement, pointing out that humans are still involved in system building, but as SI's self-improvement capabilities increase, human intervention will decrease. Currently, the official accounts and domain names still display SpaceXAI at the time of the announcement.

This naming adjustment aligns the company's brand with government terminology, reinforcing synchronization with administrative policies driven by events, while funding and attention continue to flow towards space computing and super intelligence narratives. Benefiting from policy consistency and brand upgrade narratives, frequent name changes may increase market concerns about organizational stability, putting pressure on brand recognition continuity.

Musk also stated, "SpaceX is a super intelligence company," integrating rockets, satellites, and AI capabilities into the same super intelligence framework.
