Binance.US announced that its in-app self-custody wallet, Binance.US Wallet, is now available to eligible iOS and Android users, allowing them to switch between centralized exchange accounts and on-chain wallets within the same app.

The product supports tens of thousands of tokens and hundreds of decentralized applications, and is integrated with Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Solana, and Robinhood Chain. The wallet uses a key sharding method without mnemonic phrases: keys are stored in three locations: the user's device, personal cloud storage, and Binance.US, with access requiring at least two copies, while the platform holds only one. Users can export their private keys at any time and can also import existing wallet mnemonic phrases.

This feature is not starting from scratch. In the August 2026 community update, the company had already opened the Web3 Wallet as an early preview to some users, providing basic exchanges, multi-chain support, and a directory of decentralized applications, stating that it would be tested in phases before expanding. This announcement effectively transitions the preview to a formal entry point for eligible users.

The subsequent roadmap includes transferring crypto assets between the exchange and the wallet, buying and selling within the wallet using convenient payment methods, and continuing to add tokens, chains, and decentralized applications. For licensed exchanges in the U.S., this means that compliant custodial accounts and self-custody addresses are integrated into the same client, with deposits and withdrawals still going through licensed channels, while on-chain interactions leave the platform's balance sheet.

Robinhood Chain is included in the first batch of networks, corresponding to its tokenized stocks and on-chain application traffic after its mainnet launch in July 2026. The global version of Binance Wallet had previously integrated with this chain; the U.S. entity is now following up with a separate branded wallet, connecting U.S. users directly to the same layer two, rather than just providing a centralized order book.

In market mechanics, this is product diversion, not immediate buy-sell orders. The platform aims to keep spot users within the app for on-chain exchanges and application interactions, reducing asset outflows to external wallets; decentralized applications and layer two networks gain a new retail entry point in the U.S. If funds are transferred from the exchange balance to the self-custody sharded wallet, the platform's custodial scale decreases, while on-chain transaction fees and wallet exchanges flow to the supported networks. Beneficiaries are public chains and applications that can access U.S. retail, while independent wallets that only direct traffic to external wallets and exchanges that still lock U.S. users in purely custodial accounts face pressure.

On a supplementary level, the sharded structure prevents Binance.US from unilaterally accessing assets, but the platform still holds one-third of the key shares; users are detached from this structure once they export their private keys. The announcement did not provide the number of users activated, the scale of locked assets, or the launch date for transfers.
