"Being able to create" is not just about writing code or designing interfaces, but about breaking down ambiguous problems into products, quickly delivering usable versions, identifying errors from user feedback, and continuously iterating until users are willing to use it. Graham has long emphasized that founders do not need to first become experts in fundraising, management, or entrepreneurial jargon; what truly matters is understanding users and the problems being solved, and creating what users genuinely want.

"Sufficiently fierce" does not equate to being rough or good at competing for resources, but rather the ability to continue pushing forward on key tasks in the face of rejection, stagnation, competition, hiring failures, product failures, and funding pressures. In the early stages of entrepreneurship, there are no mature organizations to bear the uncertainty for founders; they must personally handle a lot of non-scalable work: contacting users one by one, persuading initial customers, fixing problems, redoing products, recruiting partners, and maintaining action amidst low probabilities.

Capital markets and users do not directly pay for "founder temperament"; they pay for the growth, retention, and demand validation after the product is created. Those who can deliver products are more likely to receive genuine user feedback, and those who are sufficiently resilient are more likely to continue making corrections when feedback is poor; early investors will therefore prioritize teams that combine building capability with execution resilience, rather than those who are merely good at storytelling, fundraising, or making grand plans.
