SpaceX is recruiting shared site hosts on the Starlink community host page. A Starlink Kit provides high-speed internet to multiple nearby users, who can purchase access passes by the hour, day, week, or month, with hosts earning a share from each connection. Payments, user access, and connections are handled by Starlink, while hosts are responsible for site selection and installation.

Passes are broken down by device and duration. Hourly tickets are for 1 hour, 1 device, for one-time use. Daily tickets are for 24 hours, 1 device, for a workday or a day trip. Weekly tickets are for 7 days, 1 device, for short stays. Monthly tickets are for 1 month, up to 4 devices, for fixed users. The page states that the indicated speeds are the maximum available speeds and are not guaranteed, and may be slower during congestion. If coverage is insufficient, additional routers or another kit can be added.

The application page targets homeowners, businesses, and local entrepreneurs, allowing anyone who sees demand nearby to participate. The steps involve ordering a shareable kit, placing it in the highest demand location, and collecting monthly payments from connections. The interest form is a waiting list for community host testing, asking about the number of sites, estimated monthly users, most commonly used ticket types, and local prices users are willing to pay. The page also states that notifications will be sent when the area goes live.

PCMag reports that SpaceX did not respond to requests for comment, and it is unclear which areas will be open or if there are market limitations. The support page mentioned community options for authorized resellers and business customers last year, referring to monthly tickets, but it is unclear if any were actually sold. This time, the page has released hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly tickets together, but no prices are listed. Mexican regulatory documents also contain community host fee registrations, which cannot be directly considered as global prices for this page.

The congestion clause leaves capacity risks on the shared end. A kit serves multiple users, and speeds decrease during peak times. Hosts earn from the number of connections, not guaranteed bandwidth. Starlink handles payments and access, while hosts manage site selection and on-site operations. Beneficiaries are those who can sell temporary tickets near holidays, parks, and gathering points, while the pressure is on family users who originally subscribed for one kit per person and local operators competing for the same sky capacity.

Neighbors who purchase access for less than a full month are buying already available capacity. This is driven by a distribution network, not new satellites. Money comes from monthly subscriptions, broken down into hourly to monthly passes, which are then shared between hosts and Starlink. Hosts exchange their rooftops for revenue shares, while Starlink exchanges one terminal for multiple paid accounts. Until prices are listed, the revenue-sharing ratio remains uncalculated.
