Forbes: Brett Adcock sold the humanoid future first

According to Forbes, Brett Adcock made an 11-digit fortune by selling the future before the product arrives. First flying taxis, now AI humanoid robots. The robots are real. There is still a significant gap between what they can do today and what he claims the next step will be.

Forbes estimates his wealth at $23.4 billion, primarily from the rising valuation of Figure. He founded Figure in 2022, and in 2025, it was valued at $39 billion in a funding round, with him holding about 50% of the shares. At that time, the humanoid robots were still in small-scale pilot tests and controlled demonstrations. Theoretically, if a humanoid robot can do anything a human can do, there is no upper limit to its valuation. This is the pricing logic provided in the report.

In 2021, he took the electric aviation company Archer Aviation public through a special purpose acquisition company, raising $858 million with a valuation of $1.7 billion, even though the aircraft had not yet begun commercial flights. In 2025, he founded Hark to create AI consumer electronics. In May of this year, the company raised $700 million at a $6 billion valuation, with no products on the market at that time. In 2012, he co-founded the recruitment platform Vettery, which was sold to Adecco for $110 million in 2018.

The report describes all three transactions in the same way: pricing products that have not yet arrived. Archer sold expectations of orders before commercial flights, Figure sold expectations of general labor from pilot robots, and Hark sold expectations of assistants without market-ready products. Wealth rankings therefore precede delivery.

Figure's robots exist but have not scaled to replace factory workers. Adcock has publicly stated that the data and computing power required for humanoid robots will eventually exceed that of large language models, and scaling production may cost hundreds of billions of dollars. The report did not provide a quantitative comparison with large models. Forbes' profile states he is 40 years old and lives in Palo Alto.

This is a valuation trade, not a delivery trade. Buyers are investors pricing future labor and future flights, while sellers are founders writing pilot and demonstration projects as general capabilities. The event is driven by Forbes linking the $23.4 billion wealth and delivery gap together. Funds have already entered the $39 billion Figure and $6 billion Hark, without waiting for commercial flights or mass-produced robots. The beneficiaries are the founders holding about 50% of the shares, while the pressure is on late-stage capital that prices general humanoid labor but can only see controlled demonstrations.
