Claude, a subsidiary of Anthropic, announced that starting from October 1, for two weeks, any new creation or editing of designs, slides, or documents in the Claude app will be billed at 50% of the usage cap for subsequent work in the same session. The trial is directed towards the recently released Claude Sonnet 5.5 on September 28, which is said to require less manual modification for slides created from templates.

The help center has set the event from October 1 to October 15, automatically effective without a redemption code. It covers Pro, Max, and Team plans, excluding Free and all Enterprise plans. In chat, after creating or editing one artifact, the next 10 messages will count 50% less against the 5-hour session limit. After reaching 10 messages, the original price resumes, and generating or modifying an artifact will reset the count. Starting a chat from the output menu with documents, presentations, or designs will count the first message towards the discount.

If starting work from the output menu in Cowork, the discount covers approximately the first 45 minutes of the task. The discount only applies to the 5-hour rolling session limit, while the weekly limit remains unchanged. The web, desktop, mobile, and Claude Code share a single usage pool, and paid plans have a separate weekly cap outside the 5-hour window. Pro costs $20 per month, or $17 per month if paid annually, with a 5-hour session limit at least 5 times that of the free version.

Sonnet 5.5 has a context of 1 million tokens, a maximum output of 128,000 tokens, with API input priced at $2 and output at $10 per million tokens. The official claim states it is over 30% faster than Sonnet 5, with most tasks costing up to 30% less. Terminal-Bench 4.0 improved from 10.3% to 70.6% from Sonnet 5. Internal tests assigned a listed company's quarterly report and conference call to it, applying a slide template, and two experts believed the 10-page business review draft could be sent out directly.

As of September 16, documents, slides, and designs have been integrated into the same conversation: first writing a page in Claude Docs, then converting it into a presentation using Claude Slides, and finally adding visuals in Claude Design. This discount temporarily halves the session consumption for this workflow, but the help center specifies that the standalone Claude Design application is not included; it must be accessed through the chat or Cowork output menu.

What is being sold is a subscription for users, and what is being bought is a 5-hour session limit. This is a usage promotion following the product launch, not a reduction in monthly fees. Funding is directed from design and document teams that easily hit the session wall towards Claude, benefiting those who frequently revise in Pro, Max, and Team plans. The weekly limit remains unchanged, and heavy users will still encounter the weekly cap. Free and Enterprise plans are excluded, and sessions that only generate without entering the artifact process will not receive discounts.
