Meta Launches First Coding Agent Muse Code

Meta has launched its first coding agent, Muse Code (beta), powered by the latest model Muse Spark 1.2, capable of handling complex software engineering tasks in large codebases, including planning changes, writing code, and validating results.

The tool supports terminal installation and can coordinate multiple persistent sub-agents to work in parallel.

Competition in event-driven AI coding tools is intensifying, with developer funding and adoption shifting towards multi-agent terminal solutions, putting pressure on products from Anthropic and OpenAI.

Meta has previously entered the paid API market with the Muse Spark series of models, and this time further introduces a dedicated coding agent led by AI head Alexandr Wang; Muse Code emphasizes persistent background agents and parallel sub-agents, targeting large repository scenarios.

In terms of capital pathways, the extension from model APIs to terminal application layers aims to directly capture developer workflows and generate recurring revenue; resources are shifting from basic model training to end-to-end coding agent optimization, differentiating from existing open-source and closed-source tools.

Similar cases can be seen in the competitive paths of Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex in the coding agent space; currently, Meta is in the process of transforming from a model provider to a complete developer tool provider.

Essentially, this represents a technological substitution: coding work is shifting from human-led to multi-agent autonomous execution, with the mechanism aimed at reducing intervention costs in large projects through persistent context and parallel validation.
