CZ Announces AI Voice Version of 'Freedom of Money' Coming to Spotify

Changpeng Zhao announced that the audio version of his memoir 'Freedom of Money' will soon be available on Spotify, narrated in his own voice using AI.

He stated that the version is AI-generated, but even he finds it difficult to distinguish it from a real human voice.

The Spotify page indicates that the audiobook is approximately 11 hours and 29 minutes long, labeled as digital voice narrated by Changpeng Zhao, and will be released on October 29.

The book serves as both a memoir and a manifesto, recounting his journey from a rural childhood in China, immigrating to Canada, to founding Binance in 2017 and serving 300 million users, with some content completed during his time in prison.

Previous versions have been released on platforms like Audible, featuring multiple narrators including Changpeng Zhao himself, with all proceeds donated to charity.

AI voice technology has now achieved a high level of fidelity in replicating personal tone and rhythm, allowing authors to release a 'voice version' without needing to record it themselves.

Changpeng Zhao completed the writing of 'Freedom of Money' during his imprisonment and has released multilingual versions and an Audible audiobook, with all proceeds donated, while continuing to publicly discuss Binance's early compliance issues and regulatory interactions.

In terms of capital and technology, he is using AI voice synthesis for the distribution of his memoir, motivated by the desire to expand reach, reduce recording costs, and test the authenticity of digital voices, allowing content to reach more listeners through mainstream audio platforms.

This is similar to the paths taken by other celebrities using AI to clone voices or virtual hosts, currently in a stage where voice synthesis is transitioning from a tool to indistinguishable content production, with traditional audiobooks and author narration still coexisting.

Essentially, this is a technological replacement: AI voice turns personal voices into scalable digital assets, forcing content distribution to shift from manual recording to synthetic generation, otherwise, authors' time and platform reach remain physically constrained.
