Stallone Says AI Is Here, Advises Daughter to Consider Gaming Industry
Sylvester Stallone stated on "The Overlap" podcast that "AI is here to stay" and mentioned that he proposed a "half-human, half-AI" film concept, which faced strong opposition from the creative community.
He noted that people have begun selling their likeness rights, and in the future, there could be 20 different digital versions of Elvis Presley. He described the impact of AI as an "avalanche," believing it is unstoppable and that those who do not keep up will be crushed.
Stallone previously proposed using AI to create a prequel to "First Blood" that would allow him to portray Rambo at 18 years old, exploring the impact of the Vietnam War on his character. This project did not move forward as planned.
The new "John Rambo" features Noah Centineo as a young Rambo, with Stallone not in the lead role. He previously stated on the Bingeworthy podcast that AI is capable of realizing an 18-year-old version of himself.
He expressed that AI will make it harder for young actors to survive in Hollywood and advised his daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone, to consider entering the gaming industry instead.
In market dynamics, actors' likeness rights and young images are being repriced by AI tools. Traditional roles for young actors face competition from digital avatars; some industry professionals view the gaming sector as an alternative path. Producers are opting for young actors rather than AI aging solutions.

Stallone publicly supports the entry of AI into film on "The Overlap" podcast, mentioning that his half-human, half-AI proposal faced criticism from the creative community and stating that the technology is unstoppable.
In terms of capital pathways, he had pushed for AI aging technology to allow him to portray an 18-year-old Rambo in a prequel, but this was not adopted. Producers chose young actor Noah Centineo for "John Rambo" instead. He also suggested that his daughter Scarlet Rose Stallone shift from acting to gaming.
This mirrors the choices faced by other actors and producers between aging technology and casting new talent. We are currently in a phase where discussions about AI aging and digital avatars are heating up, while traditional roles for actors still predominantly feature real people.
Essentially, this is a case of technological substitution. AI allows for the regeneration or aging of actors' images, changing the production pathways for young roles. The mechanism lies in digital tools reducing reliance on young real actors while also sparking discussions about likeness rights and employment.
