Claude launches personal finance feature, gradually rolling out to U.S. Pro, Max and Ultra users

Anthropic’s Claude announced the launch of a Personal Finance feature, which is currently being gradually rolled out in beta to Pro, Max and Ultra subscription users in the United States. Users can connect bank and credit card accounts of their choice through Plaid and ask questions in everyday language about balances, spending and bills.

The feature has read-only access and cannot transfer, manage or invest funds. Claude can view up to two years of transaction records, and conversations related to personal finance will not be used to train the model. Anthropic said the feature does not include ads or sponsored recommendations, nor is it intended to provide investment advice.

The Claude personal finance feature uses Plaid for account connections, with permissions limited to read-only access, and can access up to 24 months of transaction records. Related conversations are not used to train the model. The feature is being gradually rolled out only to U.S. Pro, Max and Ultra individual subscription users, and does not cover the free, Team or Enterprise plans.

On the data path, users complete bank-side authentication through Plaid, and Claude does not obtain bank passwords. Anthropic made clear that the feature does not include ads or sponsored recommendations and does not provide investment advice. This design separates the scope of data access from the product’s purpose.

A comparable case is OpenAI’s earlier launch of ChatGPT personal finance features, which also connects accounts through Plaid. The similarities are read-only access and natural-language queries; the differences are that Claude explicitly labels personal finance conversations as not used for training and limits the feature to specific subscription tiers during the rollout.

What this event changes is the confirmed status and access boundaries of Claude’s new personal finance feature, rather than any already realized fund-transfer capability or full-user coverage. The observation metrics are the pace at which the feature opens to more subscription tiers or regions, and the actual query usage after users connect accounts.
