Anthropic says more than 25,000 nonprofits use Claude and launches a dedicated plugin

On October 26, 2026, Anthropic announced in an official post that more than 25,000 nonprofit organizations now use Claude. The company said most of them are small local teams, and more than 75% of organizations have fewer than 10 Claude seats.

On the same day, the company released the Claude for Nonprofits plugin, which was co-developed with about 30 nonprofit organizations and includes skills for fundraising, marketing, and recruiting. Plugin features include mapping organizational information, generating content based on organizational context and AI policies, and helping research grantmakers, write proposals and reports, among other tasks. The company said the plugin will be automatically installed in eligible nonprofit Team and Enterprise plans at no additional charge.

Claude for Nonprofits was launched in December 2025, at which time it offered discounts of up to 75%, connectors with Blackbaud, Candid, and Benevity, and free AI courses in partnership with GivingTuesday. The company said the plugin is one of the follow-up products developed through ongoing collaboration with organizations in the sector.

ABAB AI Insight

Anthropic positions Claude for Nonprofits as a dedicated solution for resource-constrained organizations, with discount pricing, industry connectors, and workflow skills tailored to small teams. Among the more than 25,000 organizations using it, more than 75% have fewer than 10 seats, indicating that users are concentrated in smaller institutions rather than large nonprofits.

The new plugin binds skills to an organization’s own information maps, voice guidelines, and AI policies, aiming to reduce the operating time small teams spend on fundraising research, content generation, and recruiting documents. The company said the plugin was developed through collaboration with about 30 design partners and is automatically deployed to existing paid plans at no extra cost. Existing connectors with Blackbaud, Candid, and Benevity remain available, and the plugin adds operational skills on top of them.

The move is a product feature expansion rather than a standalone commercial transaction. The company did not disclose the list of organizations using it, full data on seat distribution, or quantified results on time saved by the plugin. Discounts and feature expansion are being advanced in parallel, reflecting an adjustment to nonprofits’ ability to pay and technology adoption barriers.

The key metrics to watch are changes in the number of organizations using it in future official updates, disclosure of specific use cases for the plugin’s skills, and public feedback from nonprofits on actual adoption of the connectors and skills.

ABAB News · Laws of cognition

  1. Expansion of AI tools for small nonprofits prioritizes lowering adoption barriers through discounts and automatically deployed skills, rather than relying on large customized projects.

  2. More than 75% of user organizations have fewer than 10 seats, indicating that product penetration is concentrated in local teams with limited staff.

  3. The plugin’s skills are tied to an organization’s own context and policies, aiming to reduce repetitive configuration, but actual results depend on whether the organization maintains the corresponding information maps and policy documents.
