Keyrock Completes Acquisition of BlockFills' Institutional Trading and Brokerage Business

Keyrock has completed the acquisition of BlockFills' institutional trading and brokerage business, which includes its trading technology, institutional client relationships, and derivatives trading team. This transaction will also expand Keyrock's regulatory coverage, including entities registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and a UK entity seeking authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority.

Keyrock did not disclose the transaction price; however, according to court documents and company representatives, the total price is $3.25 million, paid in two installments, with part contingent on regulatory approval.

BlockFills suffered significant losses during the cryptocurrency market crash in February 2026 and subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Keyrock was selected as the buyer in its bankruptcy proceedings.

As a digital asset service provider based in Brussels, Keyrock has previously completed multiple acquisitions. This rapid expansion of its institutional business through the bidding for BlockFills' bankruptcy assets continues its strategy in market making and liquidity services.

In terms of capital strategy, Keyrock acquired distressed institutional brokerage assets at a low price, gaining a mature client network, derivatives team, and regulatory licenses. BlockFills previously served around 2,000 institutional clients with over $60 billion in trading volume, transferring resources from a bankrupt entity to a buyer with capital and execution capability.

This is similar to common bankruptcy asset restructuring cases in the cryptocurrency industry. Keyrock is currently in a phase of expanding its institutional crypto services in Europe, enhancing competitiveness through mergers and acquisitions that integrate technology and licenses.

Essentially, this reflects a restructuring of the industry chain: market volatility has led to a reshuffling of institutional service providers, with undervalued assets being absorbed by stronger capital players, concentrating key resources such as regulatory coverage and client relationships among a few leading players, driving the industry from fragmentation to consolidation.
