Grok Bot Launches Independent Email for Users at mail.grokbot.com

Grok Bot officially provides users with an independent email address for sending and receiving, located at mail.grokbot.com. This email is held by the proxy system for external services and does not connect to users' private or existing company inboxes.

The claim entry has been opened to users: they can directly request the Bot to claim within the app, or mention the official Bot account on X to initiate, and the system will verify if the prefix is available. There is a separate switch for team scenarios, and members cannot enable it until the administrator turns it on. Users can choose their own prefix, and the Bot will check for duplicates before assigning the address; earlier this week, someone claimed a 3-letter short address, and today the plant shop claimed slowgrown@mail.grokbot.com, stating that it will only send or reply after user consent.

The official listed uses include registration services, contacting merchants, and scheduling. In public replies, the Bot will redirect setting requests back to the user's own Bot to complete, including adding accounts after already having one address. The official explanation states that this address can handle registration, outreach, scheduling, and task handover, without interfering with users' daily or business emails.

On the product side, Grok Bot is operated by SpaceXAI and was launched in beta on August 11, positioned as an AI teammate capable of delivering real work, currently covering iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Earlier this week, it integrated Anthropic's Claude for a smart upgrade. The official account's first announcement has received about 7,000 likes and around 2,000 replies; Elon Musk later confirmed that the Bot can create its own email.

This is a feature rollout driven by events, not transactions. The supplier is SpaceXAI providing the email domain and claiming tools to the Bot, while the demand side consists of users and teams wanting to separate registration, replies, and scheduling from personal inboxes. Short prefixes are first-come, first-served, with early claimants locking in scarce addresses; teams without the administrator switch cannot use it temporarily. Beneficiaries are those using the Bot as an external interface, while those still piling verification codes and merchant replies in personal inboxes face pressure.

On the same day, competitors like Meta pushed the largely free Muse proxy to the iPad, while OpenAI continued to develop the Astra-based ChatGPT Dot proactive proxy. Grok Bot's approach is to first give the proxy an email identity recognizable by external systems, then allow it to engage in registration and correspondence.

SpaceXAI launched Grok Bot in beta on August 11 for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, positioning it as a teammate capable of handling real tasks, not just answering in conversations. Earlier this week, it integrated Anthropic's Claude for an intelligence boost, followed by the addition of email, mirroring the path of early proxy products: first enabling conversation, then adding an identity verifiable by external systems. In August, users had already utilized self-built emails and phone numbers to have the Bot receive customer messages; this time, the official address is integrated into mail.grokbot.com, with an added administrator switch.

The email serves as an entry point for integrating the Bot into existing internet account systems. Registration, merchant replies, and schedule confirmations still largely rely on email verification; without an independent address, users must borrow their private keys. SpaceXAI has placed sending and receiving capabilities on the Bot side, allowing users to only approve outgoing messages, effectively separating the proxy's external actions from their personal inboxes using a single domain. Short prefixes are first-come, first-served, essentially replaying the scarcity of early email and social username claims on a new domain.

Comparable efforts include OpenAI's ChatGPT Dot as a proactive proxy and Meta's Muse on the iPad: all three are moving from chat interfaces to executable tasks, differing in identity layers. Grok Bot has chosen its own email domain rather than just utilizing existing Gmail accounts. The industry position is at the end of an expansion phase and the beginning of a control phase: functionality has been rolled out to users, while teams are still stuck at the administrator switch, and address resources are starting to be claimed.

This represents a restructuring of the industry chain. Websites, merchants, and calendar systems recognize email addresses, not models. Whoever first provides a proxy with an address capable of receiving verification codes and replies can shift registration and outreach away from human inboxes. The mechanism is that the old internet ties identity to email; for a proxy to enter this chain, it must have its own address, rather than continuing to borrow from users.
