Apple opens Siri AI access to all third-party apps, with developers able to integrate starting from the 27.3 beta

On November 3, 2026, Apple announced that, starting with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 beta versions, it is launching a Developer Preview that allows any developer to connect app content and actions to Siri AI through the App Intents framework.

Developers can decide for themselves which features to expose. Siri AI can use personal context understanding, on-screen awareness and natural language capabilities to handle requests such as checking deliveries, booking restaurants or placing orders. A new “skills” feature lets developers guide Siri to combine multiple actions into a single experience.

Apple gave examples saying that users could ask a ride-hailing app to change the pickup location, or ask Siri to find a saved item in a shopping app and send it to a chat app. Siri can also access any entity in Spotlight’s semantic index.

The preview is currently for developer testing only, and is expected to be rolled out to users in a few months, with App Store submissions set to open in the spring. Apple Intelligence-supported devices and supported languages are required.

Apple has expanded Siri AI from preset categories to custom App Intents for any app, allowing third-party apps to proactively expose actions and content. Developers do not need new permissions to adapt existing code, but they must explicitly declare the functions that can be accessed.

The “skills” mechanism allows developers to provide action guidance to help Siri match user requests and combine multi-step tasks, similar to the tool-calling model of other AI assistants. The cross-app example, such as sending shopping items to messaging, depends on content transfer and on-screen awareness capabilities.

Previously, Siri’s third-party app integration scope was relatively narrow. This preview broadens access, but the functions actually available to users will depend on whether developers choose to open them and on subsequent App Store review terms. Apple is also deploying similar capabilities in its own apps.

The capability is currently in testing, and the full rollout to users and specific usage policies have not yet been finalized. Siri AI is still unavailable in the EU.
