Anthropic Adds Recording Skill Feature to Claude Cowork, Replacing Manual SKILL.md Writing

Anthropic has added a "Record a skill" feature to its office agent Claude Cowork, allowing users to convert tasks into repeatable skills through screen recording, clicks, keyboard input, and voice dictation.

This feature significantly lowers the barrier for non-technical users to create automated workflows, replacing the previous manual SKILL.md writing method.

As competition in AI office tools intensifies, funding is flowing towards desktop automation features, benefiting Anthropic Pro/Max/Team users, while similar platforms face pressure to catch up on functionalities.

Anthropic has been continuously iterating on Claude's enterprise features, similar to Artifacts and project tools, previously enhancing usability to boost paid conversions and expand market share.

On the capital front, the new feature directly drives growth in premium subscriptions while collecting user workflow data to optimize models, strengthening its competitiveness in the enterprise AI agent market.

Similar to OpenAI Codex Record & Replay (launched on June 18), the AI agent field is currently transitioning from code generation to screen-level demonstration automation.

Essentially a technological replacement, recording to skill lowers programming barriers, promoting the evolution of AI from an auxiliary tool to an autonomous workflow agent, reshaping the ecosystem of office productivity tools.
