Ledger Launches Android Device Atom at Paris Op3n Event
Ledger launched the Android device Atom at the Paris Op3n event. The limited founder's edition is priced at $849, with a refundable deposit of $100 required for pre-orders, and a regular price of $899 after launch.
The device is expected to start shipping in the summer of 2027, pending certification. Atom isolates the Android environment from a secure mode used for auditing and signing transactions via an FPGA chip, while also supporting everyday Android applications.
Solana Mobile plans to integrate the wallet and dApp Store into the Seeker application for Atom, with transaction signatures handled by the secure mode. The device will also come pre-installed with OpenClaw, allowing users to review transactions proposed by AI agents without exposing their private keys to the agents.
In response to recent hardware wallet tampering incidents, Ledger stated that Atom can detect behaviors such as screen removal, shell tampering, and core area drilling. The anti-tampering sensors remain powered by an independent battery even when the device is turned off.
The company claims its core protection features can prevent screen reading implant attacks as seen in recent incidents. The device will only be sold through Ledger's official website.
This launch combines everyday Android use with an isolated secure mode in a single device. FPGA isolation, AI agent transaction auditing, and anti-tampering detection are all integrated into the design, with a delivery timeline pointing to the summer of 2027.
This product release occurs against the backdrop of heightened attention to hardware wallet security incidents. Funding is directed towards device development, certification, and official sales channels, with users locking in the founder's edition through pre-order deposits, allowing Ledger to secure pre-sale returns and subsequent regular sales, while hardware wallets relying on third-party sales channels face competitive pressure from exclusive online sales.

Ledger has a long history of producing hardware wallets and selling signing devices, previously focusing on independent security chips and offline signing. The launch of Atom at the Paris event combines an Android environment with a secure mode isolated by FPGA in a single device, adding detection for screen removal, shell tampering, and drilling, continuing its path of strengthening physical protection after hardware security incidents.
Funding and product resources are primarily directed towards FPGA isolation design, pre-installed OpenClaw and Agent Intent features, and integration with Solana Mobile's Seeker application. The motivation is to allow users to switch between everyday Android applications and transaction signing while avoiding exposing private keys to AI agents, and to limit sales to the official website to control distribution channels.
Similar designs can be seen in some secure phones that isolate trusted execution environments from regular systems, as well as Solana Mobile's previous attempts to integrate wallets and app stores on Seeker devices. Currently, Atom is in the post-launch phase awaiting certification and is set for delivery in the summer of 2027, shifting focus from traditional hardware wallets to isolation devices supporting AI agent auditing.
Essentially, this represents a technological replacement. The offline signing of traditional hardware wallets is replaced by the FPGA-isolated secure mode and AI agent transaction auditing functionality. Mechanically, the device separates the Android environment from the signing mode within the same hardware and uses sensors powered by an independent battery to detect physical tampering, allowing users to review transactions proposed by agents without handing over private keys, thus extending signature control from purely offline devices to isolated environments capable of running everyday applications.
