Chainlink launches 24/7 market data service to fill the pricing gap for tokenized stocks

Chainlink announced that Chainlink 24/7 has gone live, providing around-the-clock market data for traditional assets such as stocks and commodities to onchain markets, covering weekends and holidays and filling the pricing gap for U.S. stocks from Friday night to Sunday night and on market-closure days. The service is delivered via Data Feeds and Data Streams. During market hours, it uses 24/5 session data, and after traditional markets close, it aggregates quotes from multiple perpetual contract platforms to form a single continuous price reference.

Official launch partner Aave is using 24/7 Data Feeds for its institutional lending platform Horizon and is pricing tokenized RWA collateral around the clock, initially covering high-volume U.S. stocks. Chainlink said that 24/5 has already provided delayed pricing for nearly half of tokenized stocks, supporting more than $1.6 billion of tokenized stock pricing across six chains for Ondo, xStocks, Robinhood, and Coinbase, among others.

The service continues to use existing session data when traditional markets are open, and switches to an aggregated reference price from multiple perpetual platforms after the market closes. That reference price reflects derivatives trading rather than real-time quotes from closed traditional exchanges. Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov said this enables institutions to continue valuing RWA collateral on weekends and holidays.

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that mainly provides external data to onchain applications. Its 24/5 U.S. stock data stream went live in early 2026, covering pre-market, regular, after-hours, and overnight sessions, and has already supported more than $1.6 billion in tokenized stock pricing across six chains for Ondo, xStocks, Robinhood, and Coinbase. Chainlink 24/7 builds on this to fill the gap from Friday night to Sunday night and on holidays, forming a single continuous price sequence.

On the capital path, oracle data becomes a prerequisite for tokenized stocks entering lending and derivatives markets. Aave's Horizon is its institutional lending platform, allowing eligible users to borrow stablecoins against tokenized RWAs as collateral. After integrating 24/7 Data Feeds, collateral can continue to be valued and liquidated while traditional markets are closed. Prices during closed periods come from an aggregate of multiple perpetual contract platforms rather than quotes from closed traditional exchanges. Perpetual contracts trade around the clock on crypto-native exchanges, and their liquidity and price-discovery mechanisms differ from those of stock spot markets.

A comparable case is how traditional markets handle non-trading hours: stocks are usually priced using the closing price or the last traded price as the overnight reference, while derivatives markets can keep trading. Chainlink's choice to aggregate multiple perpetual quotes and filter stale and outlier values seeks to strike a balance between continuity and resistance to manipulation. Unlike directly using a single exchange's price, multi-source aggregation reduces reliance on any one platform, but it still shifts part of the pricing power to the crypto derivatives market.

What this service changes is the availability of tokenized stocks during market closures: lending protocols can maintain risk parameters and liquidation thresholds without suspending markets or relying on fixed closing prices. For Aave, this expands the categories and time windows of collateral that Horizon can support; for Chainlink, it extends its infrastructure role from crypto asset prices to 24/7 pricing for traditional assets. Key metrics to watch are the number of stock types actually integrated into Horizon, the degree of deviation between prices during market closures and spot prices after the market opens, and whether other lending or derivatives protocols follow suit.

  1. After traditional markets close, the price-discovery right for tokenized stocks shifts from spot exchanges to crypto perpetual contract platforms.

  2. Oracles stitch multiple perpetual quotes into a single continuous sequence, enabling lending protocols to still enforce liquidation thresholds over the weekend.

  3. 24/5 has already covered nearly half of tokenized stocks, and 24/7 fills the last stretch of the gap rather than starting pricing capability from zero.
