Runway launches App Studio, allowing users to build creative apps with natural language

Runway said in a post on X that it has launched Runway App Studio.

The company said users can build creative apps by describing the functions they want, without writing code. Generated content can use Runway models and users’ Brand Kits, and supports images, video, and audio, and can be used by individuals or teams.

In a follow-up post, Runway listed example features, including Character Swap (replacing characters in video), Style Out (generating character style boards), Precise Edit (precise retouching of marked areas), Product Shoot (turning a single product image into a full ad campaign), and Table Read (assigning voices to script characters and previewing them).

ABAB AI Insight

Runway positions App Studio as a no-code app-building tool, allowing users to generate workable creative workflows by describing them in natural language. The official documentation shows that the system plans, designs, and builds apps, and provides real-time previews.

Example features cover video character replacement, character style generation, local retouching, product ad campaign generation, and script read-throughs. These features are all based on Runway’s existing image, video, and audio generation models and can be combined with users’ existing Brand Kits.

The official help center documentation confirms that App Studio has been integrated into the Runway platform sidebar and supports adding ready-made apps from the Store or building from scratch by description. Apps can be set to private, shared with a team, or published via link.

Public information so far has not disclosed specific pricing details or a separate paid tier. Third-party posts mention that the feature is included in paid plans, but the company’s official posts do not make this clear.
