Bitmine's total holdings increase to approximately 5.901 million Ethereum; Tom Lee states they are about 100,000 away from the 5% circulating supply target

Bitmine Immersion Technologies announced an increase of 53,501 Ethereum last week, bringing their total holdings to approximately 5.901112 million. Chairman Tom Lee stated they are about 100,000 away from their target of holding 5% of the circulating supply.

The company values this batch of holdings at approximately $14.8 billion based on a reference price of about $2,511, which accounts for 4.9% of the total supply of 120.7 million, claiming to have completed 98% of their "5% alchemy" goal. Last week, they purchased approximately $131 million, marking the largest single-week purchase since June.

Since launching their Ethereum treasury strategy on June 30, 2025, the company claims to have bought continuously for 65 weeks. Including cash, Bitcoin, and other equities, the total holdings are reported at about $15.6 billion, which includes 211 Bitcoin, approximately $541 million in cash and securities, and positions of about $180 million in Beast Industries and about $81 million in Eightco.

A large amount of Ethereum is staked through their U.S. validation network. The 5% target corresponds to about 6.04 million Ethereum, which does not grant governance rights. Lee noted that Ethereum has outperformed the S&P 500 index so far in the third quarter, using this to argue for an institutional accumulation window. The stock code BMNR is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

In market mechanics, the buyers are the listed company's treasury and following stock funds, while the sellers are the spot and over-the-counter Ethereum supply. The event is driven by weekly disclosures, with funds moving from the company's cash and financing into ETH addresses; benefiting are the shareholders whose treasury market value expands in tandem with coin prices and holding percentages, while pressured are the spot liquidity that must continue to transact under the same buying pressure.

5% is not a governance right; it is an integer threshold in market capitalization narratives. Being 100,000 away equates to writing the next week's buying pressure as a countdown. Continuous buying for 65 weeks turns the listed company into a continuous demand function for Ethereum. Coin prices and holding percentages are tied together in the same weekly report, with stocks following the treasury.

The capital path involves public market financing and converting cash on hand into ETH, then staking most of it in a self-built validation network to earn yields. Money flows from BMNR's equity and cash accounts into on-chain addresses, then returns to the profit and loss statement as staking income. Holdings in "moonshot" equities like Beast and Eightco are satellite positions of the same treasury, with Ethereum remaining the main holding. Once the target reaches 5%, Lee has hinted that there is no need to accumulate further for the percentage itself.

The benchmark is the multiple differences between MicroStrategy's Bitcoin holdings and other Ethereum treasury companies. Crypto firms are at a stage of "writing token percentages into corporate missions": they are buying supply shares and selling a scarcity narrative to the stock market. The network will not change protocols due to 4.9%, but stocks will change valuation multiples because of 4.9%.

Structurally, this represents capital concentration. The mechanism is that when a listed company treats 5% of the circulating supply as a KPI, the spot market gains a buyer that almost never sells. Supply is locked in the treasury and staking, shifting pricing power towards publicly traded companies willing to hold indefinitely. The 100,000 difference is the final stroke yet to be painted in the narrative.

  2. Buying every week turns the listed company into a demand function for the coin.

  3. Supply locked in the treasury will not turn into sell orders next week.
