Matiks launches AI game creation platform Jelo and completes a $10 million financing round

Indian math and puzzle gaming platform Matiks announced on October 26, 2026, the launch of its experimental game creation platform Jelo, which allows users to use AI to create their own games for others to play. On the same day, the company announced that it had completed a $10 million pre-Series A financing round.

According to a TechCrunch report, the round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Indian entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners and Untitled Ventures. The company said cumulative financing has exceeded $13.5 million. Matiks said its daily active users grew from 22,000 earlier this year to more than 300,000 in September, when monthly active users reached 2.2 million.

The company was founded in 2024 by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur and currently has 41 full-time employees. Bhatia said the funds will be used to expand the creation platform and enter new markets. Previously, the company completed about $3.14 million in pre-Series A financing in August 2025.

Matiks was founded by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur. Bhatia has a background in competitive mental arithmetic and previously worked on anti-money-laundering strategy at American Express. The company positions itself as turning mental arithmetic, memory, logic and puzzles into real-time competitive games, distinguishing it from traditional educational apps or passive content consumption. After its first round of about $3.14 million in August 2025, the user base grew significantly in 2026, with daily active users rising from 22,000 to more than 300,000 in September, reflecting traction in India and some overseas markets.

On the capital side, this round was led by General Catalyst and brought in investors including Ronnie Screwvala, bringing cumulative financing to more than $13.5 million. The funds are explicitly intended to expand the Jelo creation platform and for market expansion, rather than only the existing competitive product. Jelo is described as an experimental tool that lets users generate games and open them up for others to play, placing it in the same competitive direction as AI game generation tools such as Google Playground. The company is also testing a subscription model to unlock analytics and practice features, while retaining in-app purchases to maintain winning streaks and XP.

Compared with purely consumer-facing AI content platforms, Matiks is trying to move users away from an "AI slop" timeline and toward active competition and creation. The key mechanism is that the existing product relies on real-time 1v1 battles and leaderboards to sustain retention, while Jelo shifts creation rights to users, which could expand content supply and reduce the company’s own game development costs. But it is still only at an experimental stage, and public information has not disclosed the review, intellectual property or revenue-sharing mechanisms for user-generated games.

This change extends the company from a game provider to a provider of creation infrastructure. For investors, user growth and creation features moving in parallel are the main signal; for the market, Jelo’s actual adoption rate and the quality of generated content will determine whether it can form a network effect distinct from existing AI game tools.
