Pump.fun Launches BOOST Mode to Address Dead Liquidity
The meme coin issuance platform pump.fun has announced a new BOOST mode as the default launch mechanism for all newly issued tokens, addressing the issue of dead liquidity during the migration process through buybacks and burns.
In the past, over $100 million in liquidity was permanently lost each year, with about 20% of each migrating token being trapped in LP; BOOST will automatically buy back and inject into the market (17.6 SOL for SOL, $2516 for USDC) within 5 minutes after migration, and will burn the tokens.
New tokens migrating after 10:23 AM Eastern Time on July 21 will automatically activate, aiming to enhance trading experience and liquidity utilization efficiency.

Pump.fun previously led the issuance of Solana meme coins, accumulating significant LP due to its rapid migration mechanism but also exposing the pain point of liquidity entrapment, iterating platform features multiple times to enhance user retention.
On the capital path, the platform reallocates trapped funds through an automatic buyback mechanism, with the strategic motive of increasing overall TVL and trading volume, attracting more issuers and traders to form a positive cycle.
Similar to the optimization of LP incentives by DEXs like Uniswap, and the early liquidity management issues of meme coin platforms, the Solana meme ecosystem is currently transitioning from chaotic issuance to mature mechanisms.
Essentially, this is about capital concentration: BOOST recovers dead liquidity to inject into the market, with the mechanism of TWAP buyback + burn enhancing circulation efficiency, driving capital from trapped LP to active trading and new issuance projects, improving the turnover rate and attractiveness of ecosystem funds.
