14、The 2011 acquisition of Mr. Men & Little Miss marked an important change from merely creating IP to acquiring IP.

Sanrio purchased the Mr. Men & Little Miss rights from the Chorion-related business in 2011 and established the corresponding UK operation. The acquisition appears in Sanrio’s official company history.

That matters strategically: Sanrio is increasingly demonstrating that it can revive and monetize multiple characters rather than functioning as a one-property “Hello Kitty company.”

20、The 2020 family succession was one of the greatest governance turning points in Sanrio’s 60-year history.

In 2020, 92-year-old Shintaro Tsuji stepped down as president and was succeeded by his grandson, Tomokuni Tsuji. It was the first change at the top of Sanrio since the company’s founding. Tomokuni was 31 and became one of the youngest chief executives of a major listed Japanese company.
